A Virgin Mint and Kiwifruit Mojito

When I woke up this morning I felt a definite lack of energy. I admit I don't take care of myself. I never eat the required 5 a day. I'm usually pretty happy to manage to consume 5 a week! That's not healthy so I'm going to try my best to get the essential 5 a day starting today.

Next week I'll let you know if I managed to achieve this and what I included in my 5 a day!

I was thinking what could I drink that's non-carbonated and healthy, it must include things I already had. I decided upon a concoction I've named a Virgin Mint and Kiwifruit Mojito.

The ingredient's started popping in my head so I decided to go to the kitchen and make it. I wrote down the ingredients as I measured, poured, chopped and mixed. Virgin simply means non-alcoholic or it's also referred to as a mocktail.

350ml freshly squeezed chilled orange juice
I used a 350ml bottle of Golden Circle Apple, Mango and Banana Juice, which contains no preservatives, no sugar and no trans-fats
1/2 dozen or so (6-8) Mint Leaves - please don't use dried herbs
Tabasco Sauce or Worcester Sauce
Ground Pepper
1 light pinch of salt
Lemon Juice
Lime Juice
1 small to medium Kiwifruit or kiwifruit juice
Ice cubes or crushed ice

Add freshly squeezed juice to a bowl
Tear the fresh mint leaves from the stork (you could pestle and mortar them slightly to release the flavour) I didn't bother. I used about 8 leaves or so
Add the Mint leaves to the orange juice
Add 1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice to the juice mixture
Add 1 Tablespoon of Lime Juice to the mixture
Add a slight sprinkle of ground pepper (I used mixed)
Add 1 Tablespoon of L & P Worcester Sauce (or you could add 2 drops of Tabasco Sauce)
Add finely chopped Kiwifruit (I used a medium sized gold kiwifruit) you can also buy kiwijuice
Stir ingredients with a tablespoon
Leave juice mixture to Infuse in the freezer for 10-20 minutes - pop in 2-4 cubes of ice (crushed ice would be ok)
After 7 minutes Stir mixture
Leave to chill in freezer for another 5-10 minutes
Remove after 15-20 minutes (the longer you leave it, the more the mint will enhance the flavour)
I left mine in the freezer for 15 minutes

Chopped gold kiwifruit
and here's the finished Mint and Kiwi Mojito!
Add lemon juice to the rim of your chilled glasses
Lightly coat the rim (where the lemon juice is) with salt but don't overdo it
Remove bowl of juice from the freezer
Pour juice through a funnel into each glass, use a spoon and add the ice cubes, fruit and mint
(I found it messy not to use the funnel and the bowl I used didn't have a spout)
Taste (add a drop more worcester or tabasco sauce) if you feel the need for a little more heat

2-4 small medium tumbler glasses

Please let me know if you make it and if you liked it, or not. 
Next time I make it I'll try Tabasco instead of Worcester Sauce.
 I might also try a dash of Angostura Bitters and White Rum (for an alcoholic Mojito).
